Hoskinson Warns Bitcoin at Risk of Losing Top Spot Without Quantum-Resistant Upgrades
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has sounded a warning about Bitcoin's potential to lose its top spot as the world's largest cryptocurrency. According to Hoskinson, Bitcoin's biggest weakness lies in its limited ability to implement major protocol upgrades.
Hoskinson claims that Bitcoin's governance model makes significant network changes difficult, and this challenge could become critical as quantum computing advances. He notes that unlike previous challenges, quantum-resistant security would likely require coordinated, network-wide upgrades.
In contrast, Hoskinson argues that Cardano was built to preserve Bitcoin's original vision while addressing limitations that have emerged over time. The blockchain solves issues that Satoshi Nakamoto could not fully address because of technical limitations and time constraints during Bitcoin's early development.
