HTX-Linked Transfers Spark Account Freezes Amid Regulatory Scrutiny
On August 18th, reports of unexpected deposits on HTX sparked concerns about account freezes. Recipients reported receiving small transfers ranging between $3 and $10 in Tether (USDT), which was unusual due to its timing and similarity in amounts.
The identical transfer pattern raised suspicions that the transactions were not typical exchange withdrawals but rather a repeated action initiated by someone or something else. Several recipients reportedly faced account freezes soon after receiving these deposits, which added to the concerns.
HTX denied any involvement in initiating the unexplained transfers and claimed their official platforms were not responsible for them. However, each deposit with an 'HTX' tag as an identifier raises questions about ownership and control.
The exchange is investigating possible explanations, including address tagging and on-chain source identification. If evidence emerges indicating HTX controlled the sending wallets, scrutiny will increase regarding the platform's claims.
