HTX Sanctions Fallout: Users Report Frozen Accounts After Unsolicited Deposits
A strange phenomenon is unfolding in the world of cryptocurrency exchanges, where users are reporting that their accounts have been frozen after receiving unsolicited deposits from HTX wallets. This issue has arisen amidst a backdrop of escalating sanctions disputes between HTX and major exchanges.
According to multiple industry insiders, small deposits from HTX addresses have been automatically flagged by exchange compliance systems as 'address poisoning,' effectively freezing the recipient's entire account for review. 0xZiye, one of the affected users, described receiving $7.5 USDT in an unsolicited deposit from a well-known industry figure's wallet and subsequently having their Coinbase account frozen due to unknown source funds.
The HTX sanctions dispute has been ongoing since July 2026, when the European Union formally sanctioned Huobi Global SA (HTX), citing frustration with sanctions against Russia. Binance and Bitget have both implemented enhanced compliance controls, including freezing wallets on either side of flagged transfers involving designated entities.
