Huang Criticizes Cybersecurity Panic as Crypto Attacks Rise 50%
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has criticized the industry's focus on cybersecurity threats, suggesting that security vendors benefit from amplifying AI threats before releasing products.
Huang made this comment at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference in San Francisco, where he argued that companies have an incentive to create a sense of panic around cybersecurity threats to generate demand for their solutions.
He noted that over 100 companies, including OpenAI and Anthropic, signed an open letter warning of the potential for AI-enabled attacks to become more widespread within months.
Data from crypto security researchers SlowMist showed a 50% increase in attacks on crypto platforms in the first half of 2026, although total stolen funds declined. Huang acknowledged that cybersecurity is a significant business opportunity and a major use case for AI, but criticized the way threats are presented rather than the demand itself.
