Huang Declares Era of Physical AI Has Arrived, With Trillion-Dollar Opportunity
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has declared that the era of 'physical AI' is upon us. In his view, this represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity, with an estimated market size of $50 trillion across manufacturing, logistics, autonomous vehicles, and related sectors.
This figure dwarfs the US GDP, highlighting the immense potential for growth in the physical AI space. According to Nvidia, physical AI involves embedding artificial intelligence into systems that interact with the physical environment, such as robotic arms assembling cars or digital twins simulating entire supply chains.
The company has been working on its Omniverse platform and Cosmos models to accelerate generative physical AI technologies. However, this increased demand for GPUs could lead to supply constraints, affecting not only Nvidia but also decentralized compute projects like Render and Akash.
Huang has emphasized the importance of regulation in the AI space, advocating for a measured approach to govern autonomous systems that make financial decisions or operate vehicles. He has also noted that 'tokens are now profitable' for AI firms, specifically referring to AI output tokens generated by large language models and physical AI systems.
