Huang Meets Lutnick Amid Nvidia Export Investigation
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Tuesday as part of his visit to Washington. The meeting comes amid an investigation into potential violations involving exports of Nvidia's advanced AI chips to China.
The Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security is investigating possible violations related to Nvidia's Blackwell chip exports to China, but no determination has been made that the company broke US export rules.
Huang is also discussing his plan to produce $500 billion of American technology over four years, strengthen domestic supply chains, and maintain US leadership in AI and open source development. The visit coincides with the Trump administration's efforts to develop a framework for early access to advanced AI models before their public release.
