Hungary Repeals Crypto Checks as CoinCash Receives First MiCA License
Hungary's crypto regulations have undergone significant changes as the country seeks to revitalize its cryptocurrency market. The Hungarian parliament has repealed the requirement for a licensed validator to verify details of certain crypto conversions, removing an additional approval step.
The move is seen as a positive development for the sector, which had been disrupted by the previous rules that prompted some service providers to halt operations in Hungary. Finance Minister Kármán András said that many players had terminated their services related to cryptocurrencies due to the negative and market-shaking regulations.
CoinCash, a Budapest-based crypto platform, was one of the service providers that voluntarily paused operations while pursuing MiCA authorization. The company has now received Hungary's first MiCA license from the National Bank of Hungary (MNB), allowing it to resume services and expand into additional regulated offerings.
