Hungary Repeals Crypto Validator Requirement, CoinCash Secures MiCA Authorization
Hungary's crypto landscape is undergoing significant changes as the country rolls back its strict validator requirement. The rule, which was introduced by the 2024 crypto assets law, forced certain transactions to undergo mandatory third-party approval, creating an additional compliance layer that many operators found unworkable.
The Hungarian Parliament voted to repeal the rule after it disrupted the market and led to service suspensions across the sector. Finance Minister Kármán András noted that Hungary is now seeing early signs of recovery after removing the validator step.
CoinCash, a local crypto platform, was one of the companies affected by the validator requirement. The company halted services in December 2025 while pursuing MiCA approval from the National Bank of Hungary. CoinCash has now secured authorization under the EU's MiCA framework and plans to gradually restart its services.
The company's co-founder Gábor Galántai stated that CoinCash is the first Hungarian company authorized directly under the EU framework. The license covers custody, crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange, transfers, investment advice, and portfolio management.
