Hungary Scraps Controversial Crypto Validation System Amid Market Chaos
Hungary has repealed its crypto transaction validation system following market disruption and controversy surrounding its compliance with European Union regulations. The move eliminates mandatory third-party verification for specific conversions, enabling renewed operations under the MiCA regulatory structure.
The previous validation framework took effect on July 1, 2025, after amendments were enacted through Hungary's digital asset legislation. Authorized validators reviewed asset sources, wallet ownership details, customer identification, and transaction histories before providing compliance certificates.
Government representatives stated the supplementary procedure surpassed European mandates and undermined regular market operations. CoinCash, a Budapest-headquartered firm, obtained MiCA authorization from Hungary's National Bank on July 20, encompassing custody services, exchange operations, transfers, investment consultation, and portfolio administration.
