Hungary Scraps Crypto Validation Regime Amid EU Regulation Concerns
The Hungarian parliament has approved legislation to repeal the country's mandatory validation regime for crypto-asset conversions, which had been in place since July 1, 2025.
The rule required a declaration of conformity from an authorized validator for certain conversions between crypto-assets and traditional currencies or other crypto-assets.
Lawmakers voted 143 to 46 with one abstention to abolish the national validation layer, citing that it restricted competition and was unnecessary given the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation already provides a common framework for safe and traceable crypto-asset services.
