Hunter Biden, son of former US President Joe Biden, has announced his entry into the cryptocurrency market with the launch of memecoin LAPTOP. The token is set to be launched on September 9, 2026, on the Base network developed by Coinbase. In a post on X platform, Hunter Biden addressed the criticisms leveled against LAPTOP, stating that he transformed a symbol used to destroy him into a token.
Biden claimed that users shouldn't expect him or anyone else to increase the token's value, saying that LAPTOP is not just a digital asset to be owned, but also carries a message. He stated that the token should not be seen solely as a financial investment, but rather as a symbol of resistance against those who sought to harm him.
Biden also made reference to Trump's memecoin and other cryptocurrency projects, arguing that they pursued self-interest at the expense of trust and morality. He claimed that his own LAPTOP project would offer a different approach, with 20% of the coins being airdropped to the community, including those who lost money on TRUMP.
