Hunter Biden Launches LAPTOP Meme Coin Ahead of September 9 Debut
Hunter Biden's new meme coin, LAPTOP, is set to launch on Coinbase's Base network on September 9. The project has already spawned counterfeit tokens, with more than a dozen appearing on chains including Solana and BNB Chain within an hour of the announcement.
The token is named after a laptop tied to a 2020 election controversy, which Biden left at a repair shop in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2019. The New York Post published its contents weeks before the presidential election, but Biden has disputed that account, saying the files were taken from his cloud storage.
The project will reserve 20% of its supply for airdrops, including wallets that lost money on Donald Trump's TRUMP coin. This is in addition to 30% being held by the founding team, which includes Biden, and 20% set aside for liquidity, exchanges, and legal costs.
