Hunter Biden has launched a meme coin called $LAPTOP, tied to controversy surrounding his family during the 2020 presidential election.

The coin's name references the laptop that was seized by the FBI in October 2020 and became a major point of contention before the election.

Biden described $LAPTOP as a way to reclaim a symbol that was used against him, posting a video on X that included much of the news coverage of the laptop before its launch.

The launch has drawn pushback from critics who pointed out Biden's previous attacks on President Donald Trump's crypto businesses, including his own meme coin.

President Trump's son, Eric Trump, joined the criticism, writing on X that 'Hunter should go back to painting,' and sharing a screenshot showing $LAPTOP's launch and subsequent crash.
