Hunter Biden Launches Meme Coin LAPTOP as Dig at TRUMP
Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden's son, is set to launch his own meme coin on September 9th, dubbed 'LAPTOP', named after a laptop that was at the center of a political controversy.
The token will be listed on the Base network, which has ties to Coinbase. The founders of LAPTOP and Hunter Biden will hold 30% of the 1 billion supply, with their tokens locked for six months before gradually unlocking over two years.
A portion of the supply will go to those who lost money on the TRUMP meme coin, with an allocation of up to 20%. This move is seen as a dig at President Trump. The team behind LAPTOP could also burn up to 30% of the supply if certain conditions are met.
Eric Balchunas, a Bloomberg analyst, questioned the strategy, saying 'Fighting rugging w more rugging? How does that work out mathematically?' in reference to how LAPTOP is positioning itself as an alternative to TRUMP.
