Hunter Biden Launches Memecoin Tied to Infamous Laptop, Targets Trump Investors

Hunter Biden, son of former US President Joe Biden, is set to launch his own memecoin, dubbed $LAPTOP, which will be tied to the infamous laptop that was subject to intense media scrutiny in the lead-up to the 2020 election. The memecoin's ticker symbol was posted on X by Hunter Biden, with a launch date of Wednesday announced.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Hunter would send 20% of the one-billion token supply to subscribers of substack, members of a mailing list, and investors in President Donald Trump's memecoin, Official Trump (TRUMP), which has seen its value plummet by about 97% since reaching an all-time high price in January 2025.

The basis for the memecoin's namesake is Hunter's computer, whose existence and contents were subject to intense scrutiny before the 2020 election. Since his father left office in January 2025, Biden has been critical of Trump's family entanglements with the crypto industry through its World Liberty Financial business.
