Hunter Biden Unveils LAPTOP Memecoin Amid Controversy
Hunter Biden, son of former US President Joe Biden, has announced his entry into the cryptocurrency market with the launch of the LAPTOP memecoin. The token is set to be launched on September 9, 2026, on the Base network developed by Coinbase.
The LAPTOP project has been surrounded by controversy, with some critics labeling it a 'money grab' and others praising its innovative approach. Hunter Biden addressed these criticisms in a recent post on the X platform, stating that he transformed a symbol used to destroy him into a token.
'They turned the laptop into a weapon,' he said. 'I turned it into a token.'
Biden emphasized that LAPTOP is not just a financial investment, but also carries a message. He noted that 20% of the coins will be airdropped to the community, and 2% of this amount will be reserved for investors who lost money on Donald Trump's TRUMP memecoin.
Biden also referenced Trump's token, saying that 'Trump destroyed trust in everything he touched.' He claimed that his own token would offer a different approach, with a focus on community and charity. The LAPTOP contract and distribution model have been published on the project's official website.
