Hunter Biden's LAPTOP Meme Coin Launches on Base with 20% Airdrop for Crypto Community
Hunter Biden's meme coin, LAPTOP, launched today on Coinbase's Base network. The token is named after his infamous laptop controversy in 2019, which became a major issue during the 2020 US presidential election.
Biden claims that the token represents 'resilience, redemption, and recovery.' He also stated that the coin will give back to the crypto community and charity through an airdrop of 20% of the supply. This includes wallets that lost money on Donald Trump's TRUMP meme coin.
The project has allocated 30% of the supply to founders, including Hunter Biden, which is locked for six months. The remaining 70% will be unlocked over the next 36 months. Additionally, 20% is set aside for airdrops, with 10% unlocking on day one and 10% later.
The launch has sparked negative reactions from some in the crypto community. Coffeezilla tweeted that buyers should 'not buy it,' comparing it to prior celebrity launches that went poorly.
