Hunter Biden's Meme Coin Crashes 98%, Leaves Most Investors in the Red
Hunter Biden's cryptocurrency launch has been marked by significant volatility, with his meme coin, Hunter Biden's Laptop ($LAPTOP), plummeting 98% in value since its introduction. The asset initially surged to a $9 billion market capitalization before dropping to below $600 million within an hour, according to Yahoo Finance.
Meme coins are notoriously unpredictable and subject to sharp price swings based on social media trends or celebrity endorsements. Bisto, a crypto trading platform, noted that many projects lack the technical infrastructure or long-term roadmaps of established cryptocurrencies.
According to a report from the New York Post, four out of five investors who purchased Hunter's meme coin suffered massive losses. In contrast, one anonymous trader reportedly turned a $250,000 bet into $1.8 million in just a few minutes.
Nathaniel Bradley, CEO of Datavault AI, characterized the situation as a 'rug pull,' where a project's value is artificially inflated before being abandoned or exploited by its creators.
