Huobi Founder Leon Li Transitions to New Leadership Role
Leon Li is a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry, having founded Huobi in 2013 and grown it into one of the largest platforms before rebranding to HTX.
After selling his controlling stake in October 2022 and stepping away from Huobi's operations, Leon Li now chairs New Huo Technology, a Hong Kong-listed firm, and controls X-Spot Global.
Before founding Huobi, Leon Li earned a Master's degree in Control Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2007 and worked as a computer engineer at Oracle before starting Renrenzhe, a lifestyle search platform, in 2009.
In an interview with CoinDesk in May 2014, Leon Li expressed optimism about Bitcoin's future in China, framing the central bank's restrictions on banks working with exchanges as a temporary obstacle rather than a lasting block.
