HUTCHMED's ORPATHYS Plus TAGRISSO Shows Promise in NSCLC Trial
HUTCHMED has reported positive results from its Phase 3 SAFFRON trial. The study enrolled 338 patients with EGFR-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer and high MET overexpression or amplification after their disease progressed on TAGRISSO.
The trial compared the efficacy of ORPATHYS plus TAGRISSO to platinum-based chemotherapy, finding significant improvements in progression-free and overall survival. The combination therapy is already approved in China for certain EGFR-mutated advanced NSCLC patients with MET amplification following progression on EGFR TKI treatment.
HUTCHMED will present the data at a medical meeting and share the findings with global regulators to support potential registrations, although no new safety concerns were identified. The company's shares rose 0.4% in pre-market trading after the announcement, reaching $12.20.
