$HYLO Scam Promoted on Hacked Peru Economy Ministry X Account

The Ministry of Economy and Finance in Peru recently fell victim to a hacking incident, where its official X account was compromised by crypto scammers.

The attackers used the government platform to promote a fake token called $HYLO, posting messages that urged users to check for allocations ahead of a supposed launch date of September 25.

The ministry quickly moved to clarify that the posts were unauthorized and advised the public to disregard everything published during the breach.

The hack is part of a disturbing pattern that has emerged across Latin America, where government entities have been compromised in recent years by bad actors exploiting the trust that official accounts command.
