$HYPE Soars 79% Amid Crypto Downturn as Hyperliquid Outperforms Market
Hyperliquid's native token $HYPE closed Q2 2026 with an impressive 79.2% surge, defying the broader crypto downturn. Despite Bitcoin's 14.1% decline during the same period, $HYPE reached a new all-time high of $76.90 on June 16.
The divergence marks Hyperliquid's second consecutive quarter of significant outperformance, with the protocol arguing that the market now values $HYPE as a cash-generating protocol rather than just another high-beta crypto asset. In Q2, $HYPE gained 93% relative performance over Bitcoin.
Hyperliquid attributes its recovery to higher trading volumes and a revamped stablecoin infrastructure. The protocol retired USDH in favor of Coinbase-developed $USDC as its primary quote asset. By adopting $USDC, Hyperliquid estimates it could generate approximately $135 million to $200 million in annualized holder yield under prevailing interest rates.
