HYPE Token Surges 35% on US Regulatory Developments and Platform Activity
Hyperliquid's HYPE token has seen a significant surge in price over the past seven days, gaining around 35%. The rally began on August 18 when the token broke above $60 and continued to climb throughout the week.
The catalyst for this growth is attributed to a combination of factors. On August 19, US President Donald Trump announced that Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Mike Selig was working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a 'fully compliant and legal fashion.'
Traders viewed this development as a positive sign for the token's future prospects, leading to a sharp increase in price. The rally also coincided with strong activity on the platform, with Hyperliquid generating around $6.2 million in fees on August 23.
The growth has implications for HYPE, as part of the protocol's revenue is directed toward token purchases through Hyperliquid's Assistance Fund. Additionally, the expansion of the platform through Hyperliquid Improvement Proposal 3 (HIP-3) has introduced new markets and reduced reliance on crypto perpetuals alone.
Despite the strong rally, there are concerns that the price may be due for a correction. Technical indicators suggest that the token may need to consolidate before attempting another push higher.
