HYPE Token Surges to Record High Above $77 on Trump Comments

The HYPE token, issued by Hyperliquid, reached an all-time high of $77 on Friday after President Trump's comments about potentially bringing the perpetual futures platform into the United States under federal rules.

The token has gained nearly 200% in value since the start of 2026, outperforming major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, which are down 12% and 20%, respectively, over the same period.

Trump's comments referred to CFTC Chairman Michael Selig working on a compliant U.S. path for Hyperliquid, but no formal approval has been announced, and questions remain about registration, market oversight, and the treatment of decentralized protocols.
