Hyperliquid, the platform behind the popular perpetual futures market, has announced the development of HIP-3*, an optional layer that adds support for permissioned markets to its existing framework. The new feature will allow deployers to configure access to their markets through onchain allowlists, managed by themselves or their sub-deployers.

The company's co-founder, Jeffrey Yan, explained that the additional functionality is strictly additive and will only be activated by deployers who need it. This means that existing HIP-3 deployments will not be affected by the new feature.

HIP-3* is currently available on testnet, where it remains in a preliminary state and subject to feedback from users. The company aims to give independent market operators more flexibility to meet their individual deployment requirements, while maintaining its responsibility for providing the underlying onchain infrastructure.
