Hyperliquid Buybacks Fuel Price Growth, But Revenue Concerns Linger
Bitcoin's recent price action has led CoinMarketCap Head of Research Alice Liu to believe that it may have already reached its bottom, despite failing to hold above $80,000 following a rally. She points out that Bitcoin fell to around $59,000 in June this year, approximately 53% below its October all-time high of $126,100.
Liu highlights that some interesting narratives are unfolding outside Bitcoin, particularly in the markets for tokenized real-world assets and perpetual futures. She notes that Hyperliquid 'still leads' in decentralized exchanges (DEX), but Binance has taken a significant 50% market share in perpetuals backed onto tokenized stocks, ETFs, and indices.
The price of Hype (Hyperliquid) has increased by 47.5% over the past 30 days, with Liu attributing some of this momentum to buybacks. Hyperliquid has spent over $400 million USD on token buybacks, which means its price is dependent on revenue flowing in to support these buybacks.
