Binance retained its dominance in derivatives markets at the end of 2025, holding onto a 29% share of global volume despite regulatory challenges. The exchange clocked $25 trillion in derivatives trading volume for the year, with daily spot flows averaging between $10-12 billion across over 600 pairs.

Meanwhile, Hyperliquid emerged as a top player in on-chain perpetuals markets, achieving explosive growth and capturing around 70% of DeFi perpetuals dominance. The platform generated $833 million in revenue through maker-taker fees, largely thanks to its rapid L1 scaling and non-custodial execution.

While Binance's established infrastructure and partnerships with institutional clients remain a significant advantage, Hyperliquid's focus on transparent perps execution capabilities has gained traction among DeFi protocols and fintechs building derivatives layers. As the two platforms vie for market share in 2026, projections suggest Hyperliquid could achieve up to 10% global perpetuals penetration if it maintains its L1 reliability.
