Hyperliquid Rolls Out Deployer-Controlled ScaleWei Function
Hyperliquid has rolled out an upgrade to its native token standard, HIP-1, which now includes a deployer-controlled scaleWei function. This feature allows for atomic proportional balance transfers across all holders of a given token, similar to a stock split in traditional finance.
The scaleWei function enables the clean splitting, redenomination, and proportionally adjusting of token balances without breaking everything in the process. It sidesteps the traditional migration mess by scaling every balance of the referenced HIP-1 token in a single atomic transaction.
Access to the scaleWei function is restricted to system addresses and signed vaults, meaning only the original deployer or an authorized vault structure can trigger a balance scaling event. This upgrade builds on HIP-1's existing parameter set, which already includes weiDecimals, szDecimals, maxSupply, and genesis distribution mechanics.
