Hyperliquid's Advantage Shrinks as Regulated Derivatives Gain Ground
JPMorgan has issued a warning about the growing competition around Hyperliquid, a decentralized crypto perpetual contracts platform. The bank believes that regulated derivatives and new competitors could erode Hyperliquid's lead.
Hyperliquid's advantage is shrinking due to the expansion of regulated crypto perpetual contracts in the US, which are attracting institutional investors who prefer compliance, fund custody, and legal clarity. The platform faces criticism for limited anti-money laundering controls, risks of manipulation, cyberattacks, and possible oracle failures.
The slowdown in capital inflows into HYPE ETFs also poses a challenge to Hyperliquid's growth. After large inflows in May and June, investment products linked to HYPE stalled in July and early August. This could impact the token's value, which remains closely tied to Hyperliquid's volumes and revenues.
