Hyperliquid's HYPE Token Burn Nears Record Levels as TVL Surpasses $6B
Hyperliquid's HYPE token burn mechanism continued to reduce the supply of HYPE as the total value locked (TVL) in the protocol approached $7 billion. In its latest burn, Hyperliquid purchased and burned approximately 32.77K HYPE tokens, valued at around $2.65 million, with an average purchase price of $81.01.
The transaction reduced the total lifetime burns to 48.57 million HYPE tokens, representing about 4.86% of the total token supply and approximately $3.82 billion using current price valuation. This mechanism continues to convert protocol-generated revenue into permanent reductions in HYPE token supply, reducing the maximum circulating supply rather than temporarily locking tokens away.
The TVL increase strengthened the burn engine, as rising activity provided an economic foundation for recurring HYPE purchases. However, sustained revenue generation remains crucial to maintain the scale and frequency of future purchases, ensuring a continued supply squeeze that could potentially lead to price appreciation.
