Hyperscale Data Harnesses Bitcoin for Michigan AI Campus Expansion
Hyperscale Data has repurposed its Bitcoin treasury strategy to accelerate development of its Michigan AI data center campus. The company announced it has monetized approximately 100 Bitcoin and established a Bitcoin-backed credit facility, allowing it to fund AI infrastructure while maintaining exposure to Bitcoin.
The executive chairman, Milton 'Todd' Ault III, explained that Hyperscale Data had recently acquired about $71 million worth of Bitcoin through mining and treasury activities. This has enabled the company to make strategic investments without having to resort to issuing additional equity.
The AI facility in Michigan is one of the largest capital projects that Hyperscale Data intends to undertake. The first master services agreement (MSA) would have an AI computing capacity of 20 megawatts over a ten-year period with two five-year option periods, making it worth over $1.2 billion.
