Hyperscale Data Sells 685 BTC for $43 Million Debt Reduction
Hyperscale Data (NYSE American: GPUS) has made headlines in the crypto space by selling off a significant portion of its Bitcoin stash to reduce debt. The company sold approximately 685 BTC for around $43 million, with the proceeds being used to pay down about $30 million in corporate debt and direct remaining capital towards expanding its Michigan AI data center operations through subsidiary Sentinum.
As of July 19, Hyperscale Data held a total of 1,087.4527 BTC valued at around $70.3 million. A sale of approximately 100 Bitcoin was made in late July for the Michigan data center project, followed by the larger 685-coin sale announced on August 14.
Executive Chairman Milton 'Todd' Ault III has emphasized that Bitcoin will remain central to the company's strategy, positioning the sale as a capital allocation decision rather than a shift away from crypto. The debt reduction is expected to improve interest coverage and free up future cash flow for the company.
