Hyperscale Data Taps Bitcoin Treasury for Michigan AI Data Center Build
Hyperscale Data has used some of its $71 million bitcoin treasury to fund construction of an AI data center campus in Michigan, USA.
The company sold approximately 100 BTC to help finance the project and established a bitcoin-backed credit facility to support it.
According to Hyperscale Data CEO William Horne, this move does not change the company's long-term conviction regarding Bitcoin. The strategy involves selectively monetizing part of its Bitcoin holdings to finance another balance sheet asset.
The Michigan project is expected to generate significant revenue, with an initial agreement covering approximately 20 megawatts of AI compute capacity over a 10-year term and potentially generating more than $1.2 billion in revenue if fully extended.
