Illuvium Extends Operating Runway, Targets MMO Launch by End of 2026
Illuvium's web3 gaming studio has managed to extend its operating runway by more than 12 months thanks to six months of cost reductions and a further wage cut, according to CEO Kieran Warwick. The cuts have allowed the studio to regain a one-year window, which it had lost earlier in its development cycle.
The remaining workforce is now almost entirely focused on developing an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game, with most team members having been with Illuvium for over three years. Warwick did not disclose the current cash balance or monthly burn of the studio.
Illuvium had previously disclosed a monthly burn figure in December 2024, which was around $900,000 after administrators stopped taking salaries and cut overall wages by another $85,000. The studio is now looking to launch its MMO game in December 2026, with plans to reuse existing assets and procedural dungeons.
The studio is also aiming to release several smaller products in 2026, including a final Celebrations collection for Beyond Set 1, Beyond Chaos, Primal Tactica, and Loadout. Warwick stated that an outside studio developing Primal Tactica under an Illuvium intellectual-property license would show the game at Steam Next Fest in October.
