Illuvium's Cost Cuts Buy It Another Year as MMO Becomes Top Priority
Illuvium's web3 gaming studio has managed to extend its operating runway by over a year thanks to six months of cost reductions and wage cuts. CEO Kieran Warwick said that the remaining workforce is almost entirely focused on an MMO, with most team members having been with the company for more than three years.
The studio last published a monthly burn figure in December 2024, which was around $900,000 after administrators stopped taking salaries and cut overall wages by another $85,000. Warwick did not disclose the current cash balance or monthly burn but stated that the cuts have given them an extra year of runway.
The MMO is now the main remaining bet for Illuvium, with a target launch date set for December 2026. The plan involves reusing existing assets and targeting procedural dungeons and boss encounters for after-launch player-versus-player features and combat polish.
