India Cracks Down on 15 Crypto Platforms for Anti-Money Laundering Non-Compliance
India's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND) has issued non-compliance notices to 15 cryptocurrency platforms, citing that they were operating without meeting relevant requirements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The affected companies include Weex, Bitunix, DigiFinex, Toobit, XT.com, Latoken, WOO X, Pionex, ChangeNow, SimpleSwap, Fixedfloat, WhiteBIT, and Guardarian.
The takedown notices were issued under India's information technology law and intermediary rules, seeking action against public apps and URLs.
According to the FIU-IND announcement on September 9, the services were named along with their associated entities, indicating that the notices target both consumer-facing brands and their underlying companies.
