India's Crypto Regulation Delayed Again as Key Hearing Cancelled
The Indian government's plans for regulating cryptocurrencies have hit another roadblock as a key parliamentary hearing scheduled to discuss virtual digital assets (VDAs) has been cancelled. The meeting, which was set to take place today, was meant to provide clarity on India's crypto regulation framework.
Although the country has already proposed rules for VDAs, including taxation and anti-money laundering regulations, there is still no clear understanding of how different types of crypto assets, exchanges, and platforms will be regulated.
The cancellation of the hearing adds to the uncertainty in India's crypto regulation space. The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) was set to discuss its views on VDAs with the parliament, but now a new date has not been announced.
