INDOPACOM Runs Live Bitcoin Node for Cybersecurity Experiments
The US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) has confirmed that it is operating a live Bitcoin node as part of its cybersecurity experiments. Admiral Samuel Paparo stated this during Congressional testimony, emphasizing that INDOPACOM's interest lies in the cryptographic and blockchain technology behind Bitcoin for securing digital infrastructure.
According to Paparo, running the node allows INDOPACOM to monitor network traffic, study Bitcoin's proof-of-work security, and test defenses for military communications. This marks the first public acknowledgment of US military involvement with the Bitcoin network, highlighting its importance in national security and digital power projection.
