Infantino's FFE Proposal Sparks Controversy in International Sports Governance

FIFA President Gianni Infantino's proposal to create a new commercial entity has sparked controversy in the world of international sports governance. The plan, known as FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), aims to bundle the organization's most lucrative revenue streams and raise up to $4.2 billion from outside investors.

The FFE would retain majority control for FIFA while offering a minority stake of up to 21% to outside investors. Thrive Eternal, led by Joshua Kushner, is positioned as the lead investor spearheading the consortium. J.P. Morgan advised on the structural framework for the entity.

The involvement of figures linked to the previous US administration has raised concerns among critics, who see it as adding an uncomfortable dimension to the deal. UEFA has emerged as the most vocal opponent, pushing for emergency meetings and questioning whether commercializing FIFA's governance structure undermines the sport itself.
