Injective Becomes First Layer One Blockchain with SEC-Registered Transfer Agent Status
Injective Institutional Services, related to layer one blockchain Injective, has officially become a registered transfer agent for the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This move was announced by Injective on August 19. The registration allows Injective to perform tasks such as maintaining security holder records and processing ownership changes within the framework of federal law.
According to the SEC, a transfer agent is responsible for recording security ownership changes, maintaining issuer security holder records, and issuing or canceling securities certificates, among other duties. Injective plans to combine this new function with its tokenization infrastructure, 'Injective Mint,' which was launched on July 16.
Injective Mint enables issuers to set restrictions on addresses, jurisdictions, and management roles, as well as issue and redeem securities. However, it's worth noting that not all assets issued through Injective Mint will be considered securities.
