Injective Blockchain Halted for Hours in $4.9 Million Hack Response
Injective, a layer-1 blockchain network, experienced an emergency situation on August 31 when it temporarily halted block production for nearly four hours to address an exploit that researchers believed was tied to its core modules.
The incident occurred after an attack was discovered, with researchers estimating that around $4.9 million had been bridged to Ethereum during the exploit.
Injective claimed in a statement that the blockchain's consensus and native INJ were not compromised, but researcher Earthling Paddy disputed this characterization, suggesting that the vulnerable logic was inside a protocol module used by applications rather than solely within application code.
The foundation also stated that its users weren't affected, with CEO Eric Chen saying 'Injective users aren’t affected and we’ve been helping the team on recovery.'
