Injective Powers AI Commerce with Sub-Second Payments
Injective has joined forces with the x402 Foundation to bring its sub-second transaction finality to payment standards for AI-native commerce. The x402 protocol, now live on Injective's network, enables USDC payments that settle in a single block, taking roughly 650 milliseconds to finalize.
The x402 protocol was initially developed as a Coinbase project and has since been launched by the x402 Foundation under the governance of the Linux Foundation. With approximately 40 member organizations, including AWS, Google, Visa, Mastercard, NEAR Foundation, and Polygon Labs, the roster boasts a diverse array of tech giants and crypto-native companies.
The protocol's core purpose is to standardize programmatic payments for artificial intelligence applications, allowing machines to pay for services on a per-request basis using USDC. This approach eliminates the need for accounts, API keys, or subscription plans, making it more efficient and cost-effective.
Injective's architecture plays a crucial role in this integration, with its EVM-compatible environment enabling developers to port their work from Ethereum without starting from scratch. The network has processed over 2.9 billion on-chain transactions, with median fees hovering around $0.0001, making per-request micropayments economically viable.
