Injective Price Surges, But Momentum Stalls at $5.92
Injective's price has surged nearly 10% in 24 hours, but momentum is stalling at $5.92. According to Peter Zhang, the current setup suggests a near-term fade to $5.48 support before any credible attempt to target $6.50.
The violent 9.68% session that pushed Injective's price from $5.33 to $6.06 intraday has left many traders excited and smart traders nervous. The price is currently sitting above every major moving average on the board, including the upper Bollinger Band entirely. However, when the percentage Bollinger Band (%B) reaches 1.13, it's not a sign of strength but rather an indication that the move has extended beyond its limits.
The momentum picture is also suggesting that the rally may already be over. The MACD histogram has flatlined to zero after a clean bullish crossover powered this rally. Additionally, the Stochastic %K is screaming at 93 and the RSI is at 72, indicating that the move has reached its peak.
The key levels exposed by the technicals are unusually clean here. Immediate resistance at $6.21 is the first real wall, while above that, $6.50 is the line in the sand for a structural breakout. On the downside, $5.48 is the immediate support and it lines up nearly perfectly with the 7-day SMA sitting at $5.19.
The positioning data shows top traders (the so-called smart money) sitting 61% long and retail not far behind at 59.8% long. However, the taker buy/sell ratio over the last hour clocks in at 0.7662, meaning aggressive market sellers are outpacing buyers by a meaningful margin right now.
