Institutional Buyers Flock to Strategy as Bitcoin-Linked Equities Gain Traction
Twelve out of the top fifteen institutional holders in Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, increased their positions in the company's stock during the second quarter of 2025.
This represents a combined increase of approximately $1.2 billion in MSTR holdings, demonstrating sustained confidence from major financial players despite broader market fluctuations.
Goldman Sachs recorded the largest increase among the institutional holders, boosting its MSTR position by $407 million. Capital International Investors followed with a $346 million increase, while BlackRock's Ireland unit added $98 million.
However, not all institutional investors increased their stakes. Capital Research Global Investors reduced its position by $462 million, marking the largest reduction among the top holders.
This divergence suggests that while many institutions remain bullish on Strategy's Bitcoin-centric model, some are choosing to rebalance or take profits.
