Institutional Capital Could Propel Bitcoin to $1.3 Million

Bitwise Asset Management's Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan believes that trillions of dollars in institutional capital could flow into Bitcoin over the next decade or longer. Financial institutions globally manage between $100 trillion and $200 trillion in assets, and if just 1% of that capital were allocated to Bitcoin, it would translate to inflows of $1 trillion to $2 trillion.

Hougan emphasized that the initial wave would likely come from financial advisers and family offices, which are often more agile in adopting new asset classes. Later, pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, and even central banks could follow, driven by a growing recognition of Bitcoin as a store of value and a portfolio diversifier.

Based on these projected inflows and an expanding store-of-value market, Hougan suggested that Bitcoin could reach $1.3 million by 2035. This forecast contrasts sharply with the current market dynamics, where retail investors have been the primary drivers.
