Institutional Capital Floods Back into Crypto Spot ETFs as BTC and ETH Surge
Crypto spot ETFs have posted their strongest weekly inflows since October 2025. According to SoSoValue data, Bitcoin spot ETFs attracted $1.918 billion in weekly net inflows, while Ethereum spot ETFs drew $697 million. The combined inflows of $2.615 billion marked a swing of nearly $3 billion from the previous week's outflows.
What's more significant than the numbers is the quality of this rebound. BTC and ETH ETFs recorded net inflows on all five trading days between August 17 and August 21, with daily flows ranging from approximately $298 million to $606 million. Institutional capital returned through sustained buying rather than a single large session.
Trading activity accelerated at the same time. Bitcoin spot ETF weekly turnover rose from around $6.9 billion to about $22.1 billion, while Ethereum spot ETF turnover increased from roughly $1.9 billion to approximately $6.8 billion. The simultaneous rise in flows, turnover, and prices gives this move a stronger foundation than earlier technical rebounds.
The price response was equally significant. On August 21, Bitcoin broke above $79,000 intraday and reached about $79,500, marking a multi-month high. Risk appetite continued to broaden after the ETF trading week ended, with other assets like SOL, XRP, and HYPE experiencing sharp gains.
