Institutional Crypto Adoption Fails to Spark Widespread Boom
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing an accelerated pace of institutional adoption, but this phenomenon is not leading to a widespread boom that many have anticipated. Major banks and funds are incorporating blockchain and digital assets into their operations, while retail liquidity continues to lose strength.
As a result, the market ecosystem is undergoing a transformation, with less speculation on various tokens and greater concentration of capital in Bitcoin, stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets (RWA), and specific cryptocurrencies. Bitget, the sixth largest exchange platform by trading volume, is adapting to this new scenario.
Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, explained that institutional clients increasingly demand the ability to trade multiple asset classes from a single place, including stocks as collateral. However, Chen expressed concern about the traditional business of crypto platforms, stating that 'it has been almost a year since liquidity has not recovered, and I don't see it doing so.'
The paradox is that this change occurs during one of the moments of greatest institutional acceptance of digital assets. Banks are incorporating financial assets into blockchains, institutional desks are gaining prominence, and the regulatory landscape has become more favorable.
