Institutional Crypto Adoption Halted by Regulatory Uncertainty
A survey by Fireblocks reveals that nearly nine in ten financial institutions have allocated budget for cryptocurrency infrastructure this year or plan to do so. However, a significant gap exists between budget allocations and actual deployment, with only 16% of respondents having built and operated the necessary infrastructure.
The survey included 638 executives at financial institutions worldwide and found that regulatory uncertainty, technical integration challenges, security concerns, and compliance requirements are major factors contributing to the slow pace of deployment.
Despite the hesitation, interest in cryptocurrency remains high, with only 11% of respondents saying they had deferred crypto spending to next year. The survey suggests that as regulatory clarity improves and technology matures, the gap between budgeting and operational deployment is likely to narrow.
