Institutional Exodus Drives Bitcoin Trading Volume to 2019 Lows
Bitcoin's spot trading volume has hit levels not seen since 2019, sparking concern about market liquidity. The decline in trading activity comes as institutional investors shift their focus towards cash and government bonds due to a prolonged futures basis inversion.
The three-month futures basis yield for Bitcoin has remained below the U.S. two-year Treasury yield since February, marking only the second such instance on record. This rare inversion is pushing institutions away from Bitcoin and towards more stable investments.
Bitcoin's current price of over $63,000 is being viewed with caution by investors, who are waiting for signs of a market turnaround or further declines. The ongoing bear market has not yet confirmed a bottom, leaving traders in a state of uncertainty.
