Institutional Flow Turns Corner in Digital Assets
The latest Strategy Watch report reveals that institutional flow in digital assets has shown signs of improvement. Net outflows narrowed across Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins in July, with spot ETFs swinging back to inflows as the treasury bid faded.
The institutional flow monitor indicates that the acute phase of de-risking may be over, but a sustained turn to inflows would confirm this conviction is returning. In July, Bitcoin's net capital flow narrowed from $17.3 billion to $4.1 billion, while Ethereum improved from -$6.1 billion to -$0.8 billion.
The CME basis yield also rebuilt in July, with the Bitcoin premium roughly doubling and Ethereum recovering from early-month lows. This widening futures premiums on both assets implies returning leveraged-long demand and a thicker cushion for cash-and-carry strategies.
